Originally from Wales. Steve Hubback was a touring and recording percussionist throughout the 1980's and signed his first record contract with Dossier Records in Berlin.

Hubback started gong and cymbal making in 1990 in Scandinavia. Within 2 years the best Nordic and Italian musicians were playing his creations including Marilyn Mazur and Paolo Vinaccia.

He pioneered distinctive gongs and cymbal sculptures which continue to influence generations. Additionally, Hubback's creations include moving and site specific sculptures. His work is respected world wide for it's originality and exceptional quality.

For the exhibition in Erratum Gallery Hubback will present a selection of forged bronze, aluminium and stainless steel sound sculptures.

For “Metalkymist: Forged from Dreams” exhibition at ERRATUM in Milano, Steve Hubback is presenting new bronze, aluminium, and stainless steel creations. These include a bronze Oak Leaf Bell and a Spinning Conch, a sound sculpture and a special gong sculpture both forged from stainless steel, along with a mobile and a few unique alumimium sound works.

His work process takes time and intense focus, working with fire and anvils to generate a flow of energy in which creativity can emerge.

His sonorous creations have been played by some of the world’s best musicians including: Paolo Vinaccia, Paul Clarvis, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Magnus Ostrum, Joe Lovano, Andrea Centazzo, and Marilyn Mazur.

While performing, Steve Hubback only uses his unique instruments.

Hollywood has used his distinctive sounds on many soundtracks, such as “State of Play” featuring Helen Mirren and Russell Crowe.

His sculptures, mobiles, and sonorous works have been exhibited in Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, UK, and USA.
